Hi Friend --
Are you ready to take your personal brand to new heights with some seriously dreamy branding photos? Before you book your photo shoot, make sure you ask these 5 super important questions to find the perfect photographer for the job.
(Shoutout to Tashi and sweet Chewy's branding session for Frenchie Friends Brand. If you own a Frenchie or know someone who owns a Frenchie, I HIGHLY encourage you to go check out their apparel for you and your furry friend!)
1. "What's your expertise in branding photography?"
You want to work with a photographer who really understands the art of capturing a brand's unique personality and identity. Look for someone who has experience in the world of branding - they'll know all the tricks to make you and your business look utterly magnetic.
JMP: As a photographer who specialized in Branding Photography, I've honed a signature style that blends editorial elegance with approachable warmth. My expertise lies in crafting custom visual stories that authentically capture the heart and soul of a brand. I begin by getting to know each client on a deep level - their unique business vision, target audience, and the emotions they want to evoke.
From there, I collaborate closely to conceptualize and execute a photo shoot that brings those brand qualities to life through striking portraiture, lifestyle imagery, and product details. In addition to photography, I also offer complementary branding services like mood board creation and visual identity refinement. This holistic approach ensures that every element of a client's visual brand works together seamlessly to forge an unforgettable connection with their dream customers. If you're a Charleston-based entrepreneur ready to showcase your brand with authentic, show-stopping imagery, I'd be honored to partner with you.
2. "Can I see some examples of your branding work?
Take a close look at their portfolio to make sure their aesthetic aligns seamlessly with your brand vision. Consistency is key! You want every single image to feel cohesive and on-brand.
JMP: ABSOLUTELY! I have sample galleries on my website and am always happy to share past client's work (with their permission, of course!)
3. "How do you approach the creative process?"
The best branding photographers will be eager to get to know you, your business, and your dream clients. This personalized approach is crucial for crafting a photo shoot that feels tailor-made for you.
JMP: I begin the process with a Questionnaire that I've created myself; regardless if we've worked together before. With repeat branding clients, I send this Questionnaire if we haven't worked together in over 6 months. The reason: I know visions and goals change when growth is happening. After the Questionnaire is complete, we hop on a video call or meet in person to start planning locations and the ultimate vision for the photoshoot. From here, I create a customized Brand Guide with your timeline, locations, moodboard, etc. We typically have 1-2 more calls to finish the planning process. My goal is to ALWAYS make sure my clients feel good about entering their Brand Photoshoot.
4. What's your turnaround time for final edited images?"
Don't get stuck waiting forever to get your hands on those fresh new brand photos - look for a fast, efficient workflow so you can start serving up that drool-worthy content ASAP.
JMP: My turnaround time for Branding Photoshoots is 3-4 weeks for your entire gallery; and 1-2 weeks for a Brand Mini Session. I do ask my clients to plan their content accordingly.
5. "Do you offer any additional branding services?"
The top-notch branding photographers can be invaluable partners, offering everything from brand strategy to killer social media content creation. This one-stop-shop approach can be a total game-changer.
JMP: I do! I work with Content Creators, Hair & Makeup Artists, Stylists, and Videographers. These services can be added-on to any package.
