There's something magical about Charleston's historic districts that makes every love story feel like it's being written for the first time. For Johanna and Jared's engagement session, we started our adventure in the charming Old Village of Mount Pleasant, where centuries-old oak trees and historic homes provided the perfect backdrop for their romance.
As we strolled through the quiet streets of Old Village, the late afternoon light filtered through Spanish moss, casting a warm glow on the couple. Johanna and Jared's natural chemistry shone through in every frame – the way they made each other laugh, the subtle touches, and those spontaneous moments of tenderness that can't be staged. The historic architecture of Old Village, with its gorgeous porches and perfectly maintained gardens, created an elegant Southern atmosphere that perfectly complemented their refined style.

We found countless picture-perfect spots among the historic homes, from wrought-iron gates to classic white picket fences. Each corner of Old Village seemed to tell its own story, and now it's become part of Johanna and Jared's story too. The way they looked at each other while walking hand in hand down the quiet streets – those are the moments that make my heart skip a beat as a photographer.

For the second half of our session, we headed to Isle of Palms, where we were joined by an extra special guest – their adorable four-legged family member! The change of scenery from historic charm to coastal beauty couldn't have been more perfect. As the sun began its descent over the Atlantic, the beach provided a completely different but equally romantic backdrop for their love story.
Their pup was absolutely in their element, running along the shoreline and adding that extra touch of joy and authenticity to their photos. There's something so special about including pets in engagement sessions – they're family, after all, and the genuine smiles and laughter they bring out in couples are absolutely priceless.

The evening light at Isle of Palms was simply spectacular, painting the sky in soft pinks and oranges that reflected off the water. Johanna and Jared looked so naturally at peace together as they walked along the beach, their pup bouncing happily alongside them. These quiet moments between the waves and sunset created some of my favorite images from the session.
What I loved most about this engagement session was how it captured two distinct sides of Charleston's beauty – the timeless elegance of Old Village and the natural, carefree spirit of Isle of Palms. But more importantly, it captured Johanna and Jared's love story in all its authentic glory, from sophisticated Southern charm to barefoot beach walks with their beloved pup.

To Johanna and Jared – thank you for allowing me to document this special chapter in your love story. Your joy is contagious, your love is beautiful, and your pup is the perfect addition to your family portraits! I can't wait to capture more memories with you on your wedding day!
